Whether you are in an abusive relationship, planning on leaving, or have already left your partner, it is important to develop a safety plan.  When you are in an unpredictable or dangerous situation, your brain does not function the same way as when you are calm.  Having a plan laid out in advance can help protect you and your children during times of crisis.  An advocate can help you work through possible scenarios and develop a plan specific to your day-to-day routines.  The abuser is most dangerous when a victim is taking steps to empower themselves or trying to leave.
