#CANDO
Apr. 1, 2021 - Apr. 30, 2021
#CANDO ["can do"] is a social media compaign the Violence Intervention Project is implementing throughout the month of April! If you don't know already, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month! To encourage, and remind, victims and survivors of the support they have here in our community, VIP asks that you message VIP's facebook or instagram page with a quote about one thing you #cando to change the culture of sexual violence, along with a selfie or group photo, so that we can compile your support into one feature we will share at the end of April!
Once you send it to VIP, you can then share your post with your friends and family, so they can virtually particitpate too!
VIP is looking forward to all of your messages!

Thank you for supporting VIP and your community!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month!
Apr. 1, 2021 - Apr. 30, 2021

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, aka "SAAM"!
Sexual violence is a widespread issue and unfortunately takes place right here in our community.

Every 73 seconds an American is sexual abused.
66% of those sexually abused are between the ages of 12 and 18.
And 93% of child victims of sexual assault know their perpetrator.
Keep in mind, these statistics don't include the cases that go unreported.
[RAINN]

In order to end sexual violence, individuals need to take a stand for those who are too scared and ashamed to stand up for themselves.
In order to end sexual violence, individuals need to speak up for those who can't speak up themselves.
In order to end sexual violence, victim-blaming needs to be abolished.
In order to end sexual violence, love is respect needs to be promoted.

YOU can help make a difference in your community. So do it. Take a stand, speak up, defile the victim-blaming stigma, and preach that love is respect.
